Internet

Posted on May 11, 2007

So, finally have internet at the apartment! No long is it required that I go to either Bryant Park or a Library to check email or anything like that. It took a bit of work and finding a good signal, but I am happy with the connection.

Moved

Well, I have made the move to New York and have been here now for three weeks. I have a new job, not one that I am too excited about, but it is a job. I have a place to stay and I have my health. That is all I have so far and that is good so far. I am freaking about a few things, but it has been stange how smooth things have been these last few weeks. The next few walls I have to climb over are pretty big, but I feel I have the courage and support I need to be successful. The next two weeks will pose a challange that I have never faced, but as they say, what dosnt kill you, makes you stronger.

Anyway, thanks to everyone that has supported me these last few months with the decision and transition that I have just completed in my life. The fear and nervousness I have felt over the last few days will be the biggest and strongest wall I am going to face these next weeks, but once demolished, I have no doubt I will find what I am looking for.

Last Trip

Posted on March 22, 2007

Well, the drive home yesterday represents a new point in my life. As I drove the 550 miles from the city to Ohio, I realized this would be the last trip from the city as a resident of Ohio. In one and one half weeks I will be resident to Brooklyn, NY. It is a weird feeling knowing that the reminders of the last 13 years will not be a constant anymore. I will return every now and again to see my friends, but I will not drive by the gas station where I had my first kiss, or the bar where I met this one girl the one time, or even the road I turned on to miss the cops. It saddens me somewhat, but then I realized that I am giving myself a brand new start at life. I have minimized my belongings and debt and am ready to start all over again.

One thing to say is this. I have been blessed to have already met some wonderful people that have done the same thing I am about to do. If you are one of those people reading this, I thank you.

Moving on to greater things…

Posted on March 6, 2007

So, those of you who know me personally know that I have been planning to make a big change in my life. That time is coming rather soon. It looks like I may be in New York City as a New Yorker in only a matter of weeks. I will have a job, school, and a place to crash.

Why I decided to make the move. I like the big city. Every time I go up there, I meet someone amazing and very interesting. In a city with so many people, I can see why. I like the lifestyle, the chaos, and the insanity of the city. It also will test me in ways I have yet to be tested. For years I have been looking for something to spark my potential. I think this might be the solution. There are so many inspiring people in the city that I think they can help motivate me to the levels I crave.

I know once I get up there I will experience changes that may annoy me. I am used to having a car to go places. I have consciously come into the know that I can not just drive anywhere, even to know I will have my car with me. I also know I will be walking an awful lot. That doesn’t bother me yet. I look at it from the angle of it gets me moving over just sitting on my butt like I currently do.

Another important thing that I will enjoy is the exposure to the arts outside my current Music and Movie choices. Those will increase over time, but being exposed to Broadway, Art, and literature will only help increase my intelligence. Reading a book on the subway is going to be done. I know it. When I see others doing it, I want to do it. Follower instead of a leader? Perhaps. In any case, I believe these little experiences will fill that gap in my life where I have felt unproductive and uninteresting.

Work and Projects

Posted on December 14, 2006

Been working a lot…I mean a lot. Christmas is always very busy and prone to pass a few headaches or more.

I upgraded my phoe from the razor to the Cingular 8525 Windows Mobile 5.0 phone last month. So far I like the ability to connect to the internet realitivly fast over UMDA (3g)networks. The wifi is an added bonus when I am at home or somewhere where wifi is freely available.

The whole phone thing has gotten me interested in projects like synce and opensync. I have gotten as far as getting the phone to see the computer. Now I need to see how I want to sync the PIM information. Idealy I would like to sync to Thunderbird and Google and back to the phone. I also think some major User Interfacing for the device within Linux needs to be developed. It is on my mind to start said project and make syncing phones and pdas with windows mobile a plug and play reality within Linux.
